These reservations also provide reservation holders with access to all other areas of Rocky Mountain National Park.\n\n-\n\nTimed Entry+ Bear Lake Road Reservations are best for those who plan to visit destinations inside the Bear Lake Road Corridor, including Moraine Park, Sprague Lake, Park & Ride Parking Area, Glacier Gorge Trailhead, and Bear Lake.\n\n-\n\nTimed Entry+ Bear Lake Road Reservations are needed to enter the Bear Lake Road Corridor between the hours of 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from May 22 through Sunday, October 18, 2026.\n\n-\n\nAll timed entry reservations allow park visitors to enter RMNP within designated 2-hour windows of time. Once you enter the park, stay as long as you like. There is no set time for departure. The reservation system will apply to all areas of Rocky Mountain National Park. If you have a Timed Entry + Bear Lake Road Reservation, you must enter the Bear Lake Road Corridor within your designated 2-hour window of time. If you miss your designated window of time, you will be asked to turn around and come back to Bear Lake Road anytime after 2 p.m.\n\n-\n\nAlso, if you have a Timed Entry+ Bear Lake Road Reservation, be advised that if you enter the Bear Lake Road Corridor and then want to exit and return to the Bear Lake Road Corridor later in the day, know that re-entry is only allowed after 2 p.m. For example, if you enter the Bear Lake Road Corridor using a 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. reservation and then want to leave and return later in the day, you may re-enter the Bear Lake Road Corridor anytime after 2 p.m. \n\n**How Much Do Timed Entry Reservations Cost?**\n\n-\n\nThe only cost associated with making a timed entry reservation is a non-refundable $2 Recreation.gov processing fee. \n\n**Additional Details to Help You Prepare For Your Next Trip to Rocky Mountain National Park:**\n\nWhen planning to visit Rocky Mountain National Park, take time to consider your preparedness, skills, fitness and experience. Propane/butane-fueled stoves and grills that have an on/off switch may be used in developed campgrounds, picnic areas and in designated wilderness campsites. Liquid gas stoves (white gas) are prohibited. Smoking is also prohibited inside the park, except within an enclosed vehicle or within a developed paved area devoid of vegetation for at least three feet. Visitors are reminded to properly extinguish all lighted smoking materials and dispose of properly. The primary construction of this project is expected to last until September 2026 with additional improvements lasting into November 2026.\n\nDuring this time, the main parking lot will be closed to both visitor and vehicle traffic which will result in the temporary loss of about 100 parking spaces. Parking will still be available in Lot 2 and the grassy Overflow Lot on Nethers Road. On Saturdays and holiday weekends, Shenandoah National Park may be unable to accommodate all Day Use Ticket holders and hikers wishing to park in these locations. You should plan accordingly and arrive early for the best selection of parking. ** We strongly recommend carpooling with other hikers**. Print or save a digital copy of your reservation with the confirmation code, which will be scanned to verify the reservation. Cell service is unreliable at the trailhead. \n\n\n\nThe person who purchased the ticket(s) online must also present the Ranger with a photo I.D. (any form of I.D. with your name and picture). Photo I.D.s are also required for Interagency passes and Shenandoah annual passes.\n\n\n\n- **Safety**\n\nThis is a strenuous, remote hike –[know what to expect before you arrive](https://www.nps.gov/places/old-rag.htm) . Children often need assistance navigating the rock scramble. Wear proper hiking clothing and footwear, and stay on the marked trail (e.g., follow blue blazes through rock scramble) — hazardous terrain and conditions frequently result in visitor injuries. Bring plenty of water, and prepare for unexpected weather and delays. \n\n\n\n- **Cell Service**\n\nCell and GPS services are unreliable near Old Rag Mountain, so please plan accordingly. There is no internet service available. If possible, download an area map to your phone's GPS app for offline use before leaving home.\n\n\n\n- **Pets**\n\nFor safety reasons, pets are **prohibited **on the Ridge, Saddle, Old Rag Access, & Ridge Access trails. \n\n\n\n- **Food, Gas, and Other Services**\n\nFood, gas, lodging and other services are not available at Old Rag; services are available in nearby towns.\n\n\n\n- **Parking**\n\nParking at the NPS-operated parking lots located at the Old Rag boundary area is free. However, an Old Rag day-use ticket does not guarantee a parking spot. Because parking is limited, **we strongly recommend carpooling with other hikers**. Parking is prohibited along any public road. Be sure to bring your Old Rag day-use ticket and I.D. (if applicable), along with your park pass and I.D. (or method of payment) to the Old Rag fee station. Please don't leave them in your vehicle.\n\n\n\n- **Tread Lightly**\n\nOld Rag Mountain is host to many rare and endangered plants that live in the rocky environment of the granite boulders. These plants are particularly susceptible to trampling, so please stay on the marked trail and observe all [rock outcrop management closure areas](https://cms.nps.gov/shen/learn/nature/romp.htm#[REDACTED]) .\n\n\n\n## Booking Windows\n\nA total of 800 tickets will be available for each day (except during the months of December, January, and February), released on a daily, rolling window. \n\n\n\n• **Primary Booking Window:** 400 of the daily tickets are available 30 days in advance of the reservation date, at 10 a.m. EST. \n\n\n\n• **Secondary Booking Window:** 400 of the daily tickets are also available five days in advance of the reservation date, at 10 a.m. EST on a rolling daily window. \n\n\n\nWhile not guaranteed, if there are any remaining tickets after the 30-day and 5-day booking windows, they will be available to purchase the day of. Cell service or an internet connection is needed to make the transaction, neither of which is available at the Old Rag Entrance Station.\n\n\n\n## Changes and Cancellations\n\nYou have until noon the day before your ticket is valid to cancel or change your reservation, however,** we are not able to issue a refund of the $1 cancellation fee for any reason**. This shuttle service replaces Glacier National Park’s previous first-come, first-served shuttle system. Shuttles to Logan Pass will not pick up passengers who do not have shuttle tickets.\n\n The Logan Pass Shuttle will provide access to Logan Pass from both the west and east sides of Going-to-the-Sun Road. West side routes will provide express service to Logan Pass, departing from Apgar Visitor Center and Lake McDonald Lodge and servicing stops at The Loop and Logan Pass only. East side routes will provide express service to Logan Pass, departing from St. Mary Visitor Center and Rising Sun.\n\n Shuttles are wheelchair-accessible. It is shuttle stop primarily for Highline Trail hikers. Many visitors who hike Glacier's Highline Trail end their hike at The Loop Trailhead. While there are shuttles stopping at The Loop going eastbound and westbound, pick up times are restricted to designated times (see chart below) and shuttles are for ticketed passengers only. *This stop allows shuttle riders to either start or end their Highline Trail hike at The Loop and return to their boarding location.*\n - In the afternoon, shuttles headed up to Logan Pass will stop at The Loop to pick up passengers that need to get back to Logan Pass to transfer to shuttles going eastbound. Eastbound shuttles will pick up passengers approximately every 60-90 minutes. **First afternoon pick up time is 12:00 pm. Last pick up time is 7:00 pm.**\n - Last departure from Logan Pass to Apgar Visitor Center is at 7:30 p.m. Last departure from Logan to St. Mary Visitor Center is at 8:00 p.m. Do not wait until the last departure of the day.\n - All riders must have a wristband verifying their ticket. The shuttle system is not intended for visitors planning overnight trips. **The shuttle provides direct, same‑day service only.**\n - The Logan Pass shuttles generally run uphill in the mornings and downhill in the afternoons.\n - Estimated travel time between Apgar and Logan pass is about **90 minutes**.\n - Time between St. Mary and Logan Pass is about **60 minutes**.\n - Logan Pass Return Times to Apgar/Lake McDonald and St. Mary/Rising Sun will be listed at the Logan Pass shuttle stop.\n - Last departure from Logan Pass to Apgar is at 7:30 p.m.\n - Last departure from Logan to St. Mary is at 8:00 p.m.\n - Do not wait until the last departure of the day.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n### How Do I Get a Shuttle Ticket?\n\n\n\n\n\nTo ride the Logan Pass Shuttle in 2026, visitors must have a ticket. Tickets are valid for one day and have specific departing times and locations. Tickets can not be purchased at the park. They can only be purchased on Recreation.gov for a $1 processing fee.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n#### Purchasing a Shuttle Ticket\n\n\n\n\n - In 2026,** a $1 Logan Pass Shuttle ticket is required** for each person over the age of 2 years. Tickets are valid for one day.\n - Children aged 2 and older must have their own seat and their own shuttle ticket. Infants under 2 years old must travel as a \"lap child\" and may ride the shuttle on the lap of a ticketed adult passenger.\n - Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis through Recreation.gov or calling 877-444-6777.\n - Tickets will be available **60 days in advance, starting on May 2nd at 8 am MDT,** and the **night before (7 pm MDT) starting June 30th**.\n - Shuttle tickets are not available for in-person purchase at Glacier National Park. Cell service and WiFi are limited in Glacier National Park.\n - Shuttle riders are encouraged to already have their shuttle ticket before arriving at the park. If visitors want to try purchasing tickets during the day before ticket releases, the Apgar Visitor Center and St. Mary Visitor Center offer free public Wi-Fi. The program provides a fair process that will improve visitor experience and protect park resources along Angels Landing. Everyone who wants to hike from Scout Lookout to Angels Landing along the half-mile section of trail with chains needs to have a permit. This applies to hikers at all times of day and all times of year. Get a permit by applying to a Seasonal Lottery or by applying for our Day-before Lottery. Hikes during the winter, December 1, 2025 to Febuary 28, 2026 can be found on this page. See ‘Additional Information’ on the right hand side of this website for other seasons. Hiking on the West Rim Trail to Scout Lookout does not require a permit. \n\n\n\nA permit is an opportunity, not a guarantee that conditions will allow a hike on your date and time. Environmental, trail, or other conditions may result in the NPS closing the trail and you may not be able to do the hike. If parking is full you may need to park at a nearby trailhead, or return later when parking is available. Zion Canyon Scenic Drive may close due to parking availability.\n\n\n\nIce and/or snow may be present on substantial portions of the trail throughout the winter. This trail is extremely dangerous during icy or snowy conditions. Your safety is your responsibility.\n\n\n\nWhen you apply for the Seasonal lottery, you can pick up to 7 days and times or ranges of days and times that you are available to hike. Be sure to list the dates you want most first. The lottery uses a ranked choice system to allocate permits. If you do not get your first choice, you may get another. \n\n\n\nThe Day-Before lottery opens from 12:01am to 3:00pm the day before you wish to hike. Apply any time within that window, and you will be entered for a chance to receive a permit. You’ll be notified by 4:00pm if you have received one or not. \n\n\n\nYou can list up to six people (including the applicant) on your lottery application. \n\n\n\nApplicants pay a $6 non-refundable application fee. This pays for recreation.gov to manage applications, run the lottery, and send emails to every applicant. You will automatically pay a $3 per person fee if recreation.gov issues a permit. This pays for National Park Service rangers to provide help on the trail and check permits. \n\n\n\nIf you get a permit, you need to print or screenshot it to bring on your hike. Cellular and data connectivity in the park are poor, so do this before you get to Zion. You may be asked to show your permit and valid photo identification to rangers at any point along the trail.\n\n\n\nLimited parking will be at the Grotto trailhead when shuttles are not running. Otherwise you will need to ride the park shuttle from the Visitor Center. \n\n\n\nCommercial Use Authorization holders must refer to the FAQs on the Zion Commercial Services website.\n\n\n\n## Permit & Season Information\n\nYou must have a permit to hike any portion of Angels Landing. Permits are needed every day and at all times. Permits are available by two lottery processes. The Seasonal Lottery application periods occur quarterly (see important dates below). Additional permits are issued in the Day-before Lottery.\n\n## Need to Know\n\nPermits are required 24 hours a day, seven days a week to hike any portion of Angels Landing. Hiking Angels Landing without a permit is a violation of 36 CFR 1.6 (engaging in a permitted activity without a permit) and is punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 and/or six months in jail. \n\n\n\n**Angels Landing permits are: **\n\n\n - Only available through online lotteries on Recreation.gov.\n - Not available at any office in Zion National Park.\n - Not available day-of.\n - Not a guarantee that parking will be availible at the closest trailhead.\n - Valid for a single day, and your hike should begin at the Grotto trailhead (Shuttle Stop 6).\n\n\n\nCommercial Use Authorization holders must refer to the FAQs on Zion's [Commercial Use Authorization](https://www.nps.gov/zion/getinvolved/commercial-use-authorization.htm) web page. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n**Lottery Applications **\n\n\n - You can list up to six people (including the applicant) on your lottery application.\n - You must use the name that appears on your photo identification (ID) because rangers may ask to see both your ID and your permit. \n - The names of the permit holder and alternate may not be changed once the application is submitted.\n - If you submit more than one application, we will cancel all of your applications, and we will not issue any refunds. \n\n\n\n**Alternates **\n\n\n - Applicants may specify an alternate during the lottery application process. \n - The alternate cannot be modified once the application is submitted.\n - A person listed as an alternate on one application may also enter their own lottery application.\n\n\n\n**Permit Details **\n\n\n - If successful, a confirmation email that serves as the permit will be sent to the permit holder.\n - A park ranger may ask to see your permit and ID of permit holder or alternate at any point along the trail. The permit holder or alternate must be present. Permits are not transferable.\n - You need to carry an electronic or paper copy of your confirmation email while on your hike - this is your permit. Note: mobile phone service is very limited in the park; therefore, an electronic copy (such as a screenshot of the permit email) should be saved prior to starting the hike. \n\n\n\nGetting a permit does not guarantee that you will be able to do this hike. A permit is an opportunity, not a guarantee that conditions will allow a hike on your date and time. Having a permit does not guarantee the safety of the trail. Conditions may cause the trail to be impassable.\n\n\n\n**Before your hike**\n\n\n - Even when conditions are perfect, this hike can be challenging. You are responsible for deciding if conditions are safe to proceed and being prepared before you start. Your safety is your responsibility.\n - Winter temperatures can vary by 40°F each day. Ice and snow may be present on substantial portions of the trail. This trail is extremely dangerous during icy or snowy conditions. Check conditions before you hike and prepare accordingly. \n - If parking at the Grotto and along the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is full you may need to park at a nearby trailhead, or return later when parking is available. Shuttles will be running December 20-29, 2025. During this time you will need to park at the Visitor Center and take a shuttle to the Grotto trailhead. \n - Remember: a permit is an opportunity, not a guarantee that conditions will allow a hike on your date and time. Having a permit does not guarantee the safety of the trail. Conditions may cause the trail to be impassable.\n\n\n\n**What to bring**\n\n\n - **Traction devices for shoes/boots are HIGHLY recommended**. Ice and snow cause treacherous conditions. Salty snacks provide your body with valuable electrolytes which help hold water in your body. \n - Boots with sufficient ankle support and traction. \n\n\n\n**While on your hike **\n\n\n - Practice Leave No Trace Principles: Pack it in, pack it out.\n - Do not feed wildlife (including chipmunks).\n - Go to the restroom before you start, restrooms are limited at Scout Lookout. \n - If listening to music, please use ear buds. \n - No pets allowed. \n - Drones (also known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or UAVs) are not allowed in any area managed by the NPS.\n\n\n## Fee Policy\n\n**Lottery Application Fee**: $6 non-refundable application fee. \n\n\n\n**Recreation Fee**: Each issued permit will be charged $3 per person. \n\n\n\nPermit holders will be responsible for payment of fees for their entire group. Cancelled Day-before Lottery permits will not become available again. \n\n\n\n**Change Policy**\n\n\n\nSeasonal Lottery: A permit-holder may reduce the group size up until two-days before the permit reservation date.
